Towering portraits, sweeping landscapes, and community stories stretch across building facades from Kensington to South Philly, transforming the city into one of the world’s largest outdoor art galleries. Behind this citywide canvas is Mural Arts Philadelphia, the nation’s largest public art program, which grew from an anti-graffiti initiative launched in 1984 into an internationally recognized model for community-based art.

Barack and Michelle Obama Reveal Their First Portrait Together for the Obama Presidential Library

Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama have unveiled their first portrait together ahead of the grand opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. The detailed, layered artwork was created by Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist Njideka Akunyili Crosby. Titled The Obamas: Springing Forth, it will be on view in the main lobby of the museum. The portrait features Akunyili Crosby’s signature photo-transfer technique.

Tremendous Tulips “Bloom” in Gallery as a Symbol of Hope and Resilience

Inspired by how light can alter a space, Iranian artist Reza Raeisifar transformed Tehran’s Vast Gallery with The Crimson Procession, an immersive installation of light and sound presented in November 2025. The exhibition featured several oversized illuminated tulips, using the flower as a symbol of remembrance, sacrifice, and renewal. Each glowing tulip was crafted from translucent red acrylic petals supported by a steel framework and lit from within, casting a warm glow throughout the space.
