Fans of rapper Jay-Z's music will get a kick out of this illustrated series, 99 Problems, by artist Ali Graham, who claims that “even world famous rappers have problems.” Each day, the freelance artist produces a simple image to visually portray a new issue that the popular musician must face. One might think that such a famous guy would encounter very fabulous dilemmas, but the series suggests otherwise.
Graham uses a bold and clean style to convey his humorous messages, which are inspired by Jay-Z's song titles, the actual 99 Problems song lyrics, and regular life. Each image features an expressionless cartoon version of Jay-Z as he encounters average inconveniences including brain freeze, tricky crossword puzzles, bad hair days, a dying phone battery, and a broken umbrella. Some other surprising moments are more bizarre, like when Jay-Z is bit by a zombie. After many requests, the artist has started offering 8.5×11 inch prints for each design, which can be purchased through his online shop until the limited run of 99 sell out.
