Majestic Portraits of Working Dogs Showcase Canine Talent

Andrew Fladeboe turns his lens to working dogs, showcasing canine talent and dedication in the three-part series The Shepherd's Realm. Usually content with a simple pat of praise after a long day's work, the noble dogs in these photos get a moment of fame and recognition for all the hard jobs they accomplish. Frozen in the moment, the canines display touchingly focused expressions as they complete their tasks or pause for a breather in between jobs.

The East Coast-based photographer traveled as far as Norway and New Zealand to capture his action-packed, on-the-job portraits of man's best friend. Creating the photos was sometimes a grueling process. Fladeboe crawled through mud, laid in farm animal waste and set up studio lights amid challenging weather conditions while documenting the dogs' daily lives.
