India’s Fascinating Tree Root Bridges Grow Stronger Every Year

In the wettest place on Earth, the village of Mawsynram in Meghalaya, India are some of the most fascinating bridges you'll ever see. These “living bridges” are formed by locals who have trained the roots of rubber trees to grow into natural bridges. They are sturdy enough to far outlast man-made wooden structure bridges. Because of the relentless rain in Meghalaya's jungles, wooden structures would rot away.

Thousands of Colorful Lanterns Celebrate Buddha’s Birthday

Every May, to celebrate Buddha's birthday, Samgwangsa Temple in Busan turns into a must-visit destination. Thousands of colored lanterns are strung up as CNN named Samgwangsa Temple one of the 50 most beautiful places to visit in Korea specifically because of the festival. The lanterns carry a symbolic meaning and many of them are in the shape of lotus flowers, a Buddhism motif.

Superheroes Reimagined as 16th Century Paintings

What would it look like if Superman was born in the 16th century? What if the Hulk was a Duke? These are the questions photographer Sacha Goldberger asked himself when he created this playful new series Super Flemish. Some of our favorite pop culture characters like Darth Vader and Snow White got the Flemish treatment as photos of them resembled 16th century paintings.
