Artist Combats Fear and Insecurity by Creating Elegantly 3D-Printed Masks

Self-described “doodler and entrepreneur” Melissa Ng of Lumecluster creates elegantly crafted 3D-printed masks designed to empower individuals to fight for their dreams. Called Dreamer Masks, each intricate work is “a vision of our ideal selves, a representation of empowering elements we tend to lose touch with when consumed by fear, a promise to commit to our dreams, and a protective shield against our nightmares,” as Ng wrote to us in an email.

Artist Creates Portraits of the Homeless and Uses Proceeds From Sold Paintings for Their Rehabilitation

A project called Faces of Santa Ana is shedding light on the lives and stories of the local homeless community, one beautiful painting at a time. The initiative was created by artist and automotive designer Brian Peterson after he moved to Santa Ana, California three months ago and noticed the large homeless population in the area. “Something inside me was telling me to reach out to them,” he told us in an email.

The 20-year-old creative, who just returned to the US from a study abroad program in Hong Kong, pairs unlikely elements like wildflowers and an urban cityscape, silhouetted figures and soft glimmers of bokeh, and vibrant blooms and architecture to depict fleeting moments from a surreal and colorful world.
