Jessica Stewart is a Staff Editor and Digital Media Specialist for My Modern Met, as well as a curator and art historian. Since 2020, she is also one of the co-hosts of the My Modern Met Top Artist Podcast. She earned her MA in Renaissance Studies from University College London and now lives in Rome, Italy. She cultivated expertise in street art which led to the purchase of her photographic archive by the Treccani Italian Encyclopedia in 2014. When she’s not spending time with her three dogs, she also manages the studio of a successful street artist. Artist “Unwraps” NASA Photos to Give Us Buzz Aldrin’s Perspective of the Moon

Like many of us, visual effects artist Michael Ranger grew up with the iconic photos of the Apollo 11 mission. Neil Armstrong's famous photograph of Buzz Aldrin walking on the moon is a testament to what humanity can achieve. So when Ranger realized that he could give a different perspective on the image, he was understandably excited. The artist was inspired by a lighting trick that's used in creating visual effects.

Watch This Photographer Expertly “Paint” Two Swans Using Light

Finnish fine art photographer Hannu Huhtamo masterfully uses light painting to create dynamic imagery. Whether he's creating fantastical creatures in the forest or flowers on open water, his photographs are a beautiful demonstration of patience and artistry. For one of his latest pieces, Serenity, he takes us inside the process of painting two swans on a lake.
