Sara Barnes is a Staff Editor at My Modern Met, Manager of My Modern Met Store, and co-host of the My Modern Met Top Artist Podcast. As an illustrator and writer living in Seattle, she chronicles illustration, embroidery, and beyond through her blog Brown Paper Bag and Instagram @brwnpaperbag. She wrote a book about embroidery artist Sarah K. Benning titled "Embroidered Life" that was published by Chronicle Books in 2019. Sara is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art. She earned her BFA in Illustration in 2008 and MFA in Illustration Practice in 2013.

Since 1955, the organization has recognized the best in international photojournalism, and their selections are always incredible; they are often hard to look at for very long, as the scenes depict dire situations and humanity at its breaking point. But, these images illuminate the stories that need to be told.

DIY Dad Builds His Son a Wooden Highchair Modeled After a ‘Star Wars’ AT-ST

Sometimes babies have the coolest stuff that leaves adults feeling pangs of jealousy. Matthew Regonini has made grownups everywhere wish they were kids again by constructing one of the best highchairs we've ever seen. The designer and builder fashioned a wooden highchair after an All Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST) from Star Wars. Culinary Artist Makes ‘3D Jelly Cakes’ Encasing Edible Scenes of Nature Within

Cake maker Siew Heng Boon crafts confections that don’t look edible at all. Her glass-like creations are instead akin to office paperweights with florals and fish encased beneath clear surfaces. Known as 3D jelly cakes, these confections are made with gelatin or seaweed jelly powder and use specific tools to inject colorful motifs onto a clear base. Boon’s cakes are an awe-inspiring example of when food transcends into edible works of art.
