South Korea went all out to celebrate the arrival of 2024. The city of Busan hosted a drone show that lit up the night sky with dazzling displays. In addition to welcoming the new year, they also marked the advent of Lunar New Year, as next month will be the start of the Year of the Dragon. In honor of this celebration, a monumental blue dragon made up of thousands of drones took over Gwangalli Beach.

The show did have some setbacks, as it was originally scheduled to start shortly after midnight on New Year's Eve and guide the countdown; however, it experienced some technical issues. First it was delayed for half an hour, before being pushed to the evening of January 1, 2o24. Luckily, revelers captured the drone show on video, and the footage is proof that it was worth the wait. The drones take to the skies in flat square formations, before creating various spherical and atom-inspired shapes. After reliving the countdown, they greet 2024 with the message: “Dreams come true.”

A shiny ball lingers in the background, and all of a sudden, a sleeping blue dragon appears in the night sky. Coming out of its slumber, the dragon rises to bite the Sun-like sphere, which then mimics fireworks by emitting rays created by drones in linear formations. Once it accomplishes that, the dragon evaporates, leading to a curtain of drones shining in pink and purple hues.
