Conservationists Have Released 136 Juvenile Galápagos Tortoises Into the Wild

The Galápagos are known as one of the most incredible natural environments on Earth. Full of rich flora and fauna, conservationists are particularly interested in preserving the incredible species found there. Among the most famous are the giant tortoises which roam the islands. These sweet, slow-moving creatures come in 13 species indigenous to the island and can live extremely long lives.

Adorable New Addition to Utah Zoo Is Also World’s Deadliest Cat

When we think of fearsome wild cats, tigers, lions, and leopards are usually the first species that come to mind. As it turns out, the most dangerous cat isn't the largest. But it is very cute. Utah's Hogle Zoo introduced an 8-month-old black-footed cat, which has earned the title of “world's deadliest cat” due to its remarkable hunting success rate.

Vital Impacts, a non-profit dedicated to boosting environmental art and photography, is launching a fundraising fine art print sale in support of Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, Africa's first indigenous-owned elephant sanctuary. The efforts of the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary help in two ways.

Photographer Wins Prize for Heartbreaking Story About the Plight of Endangered Forest Elephants

Dutch photographer Jasper Doest has dedicated his career to “giving a voice to nonhuman lives.” His award-winning photography tells visual stories of wildlife in desperate need of attention. Now his work is being honored within the context of the GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. Doest's moving photostory about endangered African forest elephants in central Gabon has earned him the 2023 Fritz Pölking Prize.
