Heroic Woman Saves Distressed Koala From Australian Bushfire Using Her Own Shirt

Southeastern Australia has been taken over by devastating bushfires for the past month, which have so far killed 6 people, destroyed hundreds of homes, and wiped out countless wild animals. Koalas are already listed as a “vulnerable” species by Australia's environmental ministry, but they are particularly vulnerable to fires because they instinctively climb to the tops of trees, towards the flames.

Stunningly Rare Albino Turtles Look Like Fiery Little Creatures

We've seen albino or leucistic whales, penguins, giraffes, and tigers, but have you ever stumbled upon an albino turtle? With their red eyes and orange-tinged skin and shell, they are an incredible sight to behold. For Super Mario Brothers fans they almost look like Koopa Paratroopas and are totally adorable. Unfortunately, their unique appearance, as with all albino animals, also leaves them incredibly vulnerable.

The funny images were chosen from over 4,000 entries from 68 different countries, revealing that silly playfulness is universal amongst animals.

Divers Encounter Mysterious Giant Egg Sac Full of Baby Squid

In Norway, a team of divers unexpectedly came across an enormous gelatinous egg sac full of baby squid, proving that truth continues to be stranger (and cooler) than fiction. The team of divers from the research vessel of REV Ocean were returning from a WWII shipwreck 200 meters (about 656 feet) off the coast of Ørsta, Norway when they experienced a surprising brush with mysteries of the blue. At about 17 meters (about 55 feet)
