Daring ‘Oasis House’ Concept Has a Massive Pool Perched on a Desert Mountain

A daring residential concept called Oasis House imagines a home cantilevering from desert rock. Designed by Omar Hakim, the structure is visualized as two distinct volumes primarily comprising glass to preserve the unobstructed views of the Wadi Al Disah in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. If just admiring the landscape from this elevated home wasn’t enough, Hakim also designed a large swimming pool for one part of it.

Architects Design Dynamic Façade With Rotating Bricks for Maximum Sunlight and Privacy

Typical glass office buildings often struggle finding a way to allow natural light in while maintaining privacy. Architect Farhad Mirzaie and A.P.P Architects & Associates have constructed a parametric brick screen that does both. Designed for an office building in the Iranian city of Arak, Revolving Bricks Serai uses an algorithim to define the rotation of bricks on the façade.

Russia Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020 Is Wrapped With Interwoven Rainbow Tubes

The Russia Pavilion in the Mobility District at Dubai Expo 2020 is sure to catch your attention. Wrapped in interwoven rainbow tubes, the structure symbolizes the free-flowing movement of ideas and knowledge; it is meant to encapsulate the motto, “creative mind: driving the future.” Architect Sergei Tchoban wanted the pavilion to represent Russia's contribution to the world through the progression of knowledge, scientific achievement, and creative thinkers.

Bamboo Bungalows in Thailand’s Turtle Bay Eco-Tourism Destination Celebrate Local Folklore

Located on the waters of Hua Hin’s Khao Tao Reservoir in Thailand, there is a hotel made up of five bamboo bungalows, all constructed with local materials. These series of guest houses in the eco-tourism destination—aptly known as Turtle Bay—are a bit more exciting than your average hotel room, though. The design itself harkens back to local folklore.
