In 2016, Wanda Dench sent a text message to Jamal Hinton inviting him to Thanksgiving dinner. The only problem? Dench thought she was contacting her grandson, not realizing he had changed his phone number. After exchanging some selfies, she was surprised to find that it was Hinton on the other end of the line. Still, the invitation stood, and the two started a tradition of breaking bread together during each Thanksgiving since.

Inspiring Athlete Becomes First Person With Down Syndrome To Complete the Grueling Ironman Triathlon

Completing an Ironman triathlon is a feat for any athlete. The grueling multi-sport event begins with a 2.4-mile open-water swim followed by a 112-mile bike ride and, finally, a 26.2-mile (marathon distance) run. Chris Nikic recently celebrated his first time crossing the finish line of an Ironman, and his personal victory had extra significance; he was the first person with Down syndrome to complete this legendary race.

Beloved Stray Cat Given Memorial Service at Church She Called Home for 12 Years

Pets have a way of quickly becoming part of our families. The loss of a beloved cat or dog is devastating, and a memorial offers a way to honor what they meant to us. The Southwark Cathedral knows this all too well, as the London-based church recently held a service to memorialize its beloved furry congregant named Doorkins Magnificat. The stray feline lived in the cathedral for 12 years (arriving in 2008)
