Interview: Venezuelan Refugees Surrounded by Their Belongings

Since 2014, faced with an increasingly dim economic and political situation, Venezuelans have been leaving their country in droves. In fact, the UNHCR estimates that there's been an 8000% increase in Venezuelans seeking refugee status in the past 5 years, which has led to 4 million people now living abroad. It's in this context that photographer Gregg Segal raised his lens to capture some of the faces that have been affected by these changes.

440 High Heels Installed on Giant Wall to Honor Female Victims of Domestic Violence

Turkish artist Vahit Tuna has created a haunting installation to draw the public's attention to an important issue—domestic violence. By placing 440 pairs of black high heels on an enormous wall, he's making a bold statement. Each pair represents a woman in Turkey that was killed by her partner in 2018. It's a shocking number in a country where femicide is on the rise.

Lacoste Continues to Replace Iconic Crocodile Logo With Endangered Species

Once again, sports fashion brand Lacoste is replacing its iconic crocodile emblem with 10 different endangered species for a limited edition collection of white polo shirts. The Save Our Species campaign is part of a 3-year partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in a bid to raise awareness of the animals’ dwindling numbers.

Creative Billboards Cleverly Encourage People to Use Less Water

How do you encourage people to use less water? This was a quandary that Denver Water hired the creative agency Sukle to help solve. For over a decade, they came up with clever advertising campaigns that inspired the citizens of Mile High City to be mindful of the amount of water they use. At the start of their campaign, they had a ten-year goal of reducing water consumption by 22%.
