This time, he took a detailed image of the International Space Station (ISS) as it transited the Sun. Striking Image of a Forest Filled With Monarch Butterflies Wins 2024 BigPicture Photo Contest

For the 11th year, the California Academy of Sciences has announced the winners of its renowned BigPicture Photography Competition. Chaired by acclaimed wildlife photographer Suzi Eszterhas, the photo contest highlights our planet's biodiversity, while at the same time speaking to the struggles that it faces. National Geographic contributing photographer Jaime Rojo won the Grand Prize for a striking photo taken in Mexico's Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve.

Pair of Resting Cuckoo Bees Wins the Royal Entomological Society’s Insect Photo Competition

The UK's leading insect science charity has announced the winners of its annual photo competition. Each year, the Royal Entomological Society asks amateur insect photographers to bring the miniature world of bugs to life, and this year was no exception. Luke Chambers was named the overall winner for his interesting look at two bees and their unusual sleeping habits. Sleeping insects also netted 17-year-old Gustav Parenmark the win in the under 18 division.
