Awe-Inspiring “Alien” Light Beams at Stonehenge Created With Drones

Photographer Reuben Wu is known for his Lux Noctis project, in which powerful lights attached to drones illuminate the landscape. In 2021, National Geographic called upon him to use his skills for its August 2022 cover. But it wasn't just any landscape that they asked him to photograph; it was the iconic Stonehenge. And recently, Wu remembered his time on-site when he posted an otherworldly outtake from the shoot on Threads.

Andean Bear Resting in a Tree Wins Nature Photographer of the Year Award

Canadian nature photographer Jacquie Matechuk has been named the overall winner of the 2023 Nature Photographer of the Year competition. Her photo of a male spectacled bear looking to the sky as he took refuge in an old fig tree is an enchanting look at a rare species found in the Andean Mountain range. Her photograph beat out over 21,400 entries from photographers in 96 different countries.

Stunning Winners of the OnePlus Photography Awards Show the Power of Mobile Photography

Tech brand OnePlus showed off the creative power of its mobile phones at the renowned Lucie Awards. Held annually to celebrate achievements in photography, the Lucies is a prestigious event that OnePlus helps sponsor. And, as part of the celebrations, eight winners from the OnePlus Photography Awards were exhibited in New York along with other top winners from the International Photo Awards.

Astrophotographer Uses 2,000 Images To Create 8K Time-Lapse of “Ring of Fire” Eclipse

Astrophotographer Jason Kurth loves a challenge, so much so that he decided to do what it took to put together the most detailed “ring of fire” timelapse ever produced. To make it happen, he spent more than a year planning, purchased a new computer, and hauled 200 pounds of equipment across the United States. The result is a stunning 8K timelapse made up of almost 2,000 images.
