Each year, the California Academy of Sciences asks photographers to submit their best photos to showcase the Earth's biodiversity. The winners and finalists of the 2021 BigPicture Natural World Photography Competition highlight the beauty of nature, as well as its struggles. Originally appearing in bioGraphic, the winning photographs are a sight to behold. Photographer Jo-Anne McArthur won the grand prize for her photo Hope Amidst the Ashes.

The 10th annual Mobile Photography Awards (MPA) has announced the winning images across a range of categories in addition to the prestigious titles of Grand Prize Winner and the MPA Photographer of the Year 2020.

Amazing Winners of the 2020 World Nature Photography Awards Are Announced

The stunning winning images of the 2020 World Nature Photography Awards have been announced. This year's honored photographers hung out in jungle canopies, tracked animals on safari, and explored the micro worlds of ponds—all to get that one amazing shot. Across 13 categories, a panel of judges scored images submitted by wildlife and nature photographers around the world. Based on the image's artistic merit, originality, subject, and style, the category winners were decided.

Stunning Winners of the Underwater Photographer of the Year 2021 Competition

Underwater photography takes patience, technical skill, and an adventurous spirit. This form of photography is practiced around the world and, every year, the best “under the sea” images are judged by the prestigious jurors of the Underwater Photographer of the Year (UPY) competition. The UPY began in 2014-15 when Alex Mustard, Dan Bolt, and Peter Rowlands decided to revive a grand British tradition of underwater photography competitions.
