More than 700 professional sports photographers hailing from over 70 countries submitted their best work to the World Sports Photography Awards. And now, the winners of the competition—the only global contest to award sports photography—have been announced.

The 24 category-winning images are a spectacular look at the world of athletics. From basketball and ice hockey to martial arts and aquatics, the categories allow these talented photographers to show off their hard work. There are all the dynamic action shots one would expect, as well as quiet moments of reflection before the big game.

Judged by leading figures in the field, the awards recognize the photographers who are able to capture the athleticism, emotion, and passion of sports. By creating compelling stories in a single frame, these professional sports photographers are raising the bar. And thanks to their talents, the public is able to relive every thrilling moment of the events captured.
