Flower artist and medical researcher Rie Okitsu has created a way to enjoy beautiful blooms in an unlikely setting—via Edison-style light bulbs. Through their company the Flowerium, they seemingly freeze bouquets in time. Delicate petals are suspended in special liquid that allows them to maintain their vibrancy for a long time. As they gently sway in the unique flower light bulb vase, the petals shine like jewels.
There are a lot of creative possibilities with Flowerium. According to Okitsu’s Instagram, the types of blooms used can vary. “Design your flower life,” they say, and through the different arrangements shown, it seems like any combination is possible. You’ll find cherry blossoms, peonies, baby’s breath, and more inside of these vessels. Regardless of your choices, the glistening bulbs are sure to be a stunning addition to ordinary home decor.
As of now, the Flowerium is only available at in-person events around Japan. But, for those who aren’t local, have no fear—they’re opening an online shop in early March.
