Whimsical Pop Culture Woodcut Prints by Brian Reedy

Where else would you find Superman, Darth Vader, and Godzilla all together in one place except for artist Brian Reedy's work? This Miami-based art teacher is known for his creative woodblock renderings of super heroes and other pop culture references. He also dabbles in carving apocalyptic dystopian futures as well as mythic creatures and the gods and goddesses of Hinduism. Reedy's work is a satiric commentary on current society.

Rare Mushroom Photos Reveal the Visual Diversity of Fungi

Who knew there are so many different kinds of mushrooms? Retiree Steve Axford, who lives and works in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales in Australia, uses his camera to capture the startling visual diversity of fungi and other living things. As his photographs reveal, there are far more types of fungi than the pale, umbrella-shaped variety that most of us are used to seeing.

Many astronomical compendia, such as the ones housed at the Museo Galileo in Florence, Italy, were constructed in German lands in the 16th and 17th centuries.
