China’s Blossoming Skyscraper Inspired by a Rosebud

Chinese architectural firm UA studio 7 has designed a 1,000-foot-tall contemporary skyscraper known as New City Flower at the intersection of Fushun and Shenyang in China in an effort to reinvigorate the local area. Inspired by the shape of a rosebud, the tower features six “petals” that rise from the building's base and wrap around the cylindrical structure, subtly overlapping each other.

Artist Transforms Books into Exciting Sculptural Stories

Ships, monsters, and mermaids pop out of books handcrafted by Delta, Pennsylvania-based artist Jodi Harvey-Brown (aka wetcanvas). Taking inspiration from the materials themselves, each three-dimensional scene the sculptor constructs reflects popular works of fiction. Whether it's a calm depiction of an outing from The Wind in the Willows or a rigorous struggle from The Old Man and the Sea, there is a sense of motion in the simulated waves.

Retired Senior Citizens Playfully Recreate Movie Scenes

James Bond: Wilhelm Buiting, 89 Retired senior citizens at a nursing home in Germany have creatively banded together and taken on the role of their lives as they recreate twelve famous movie scenes for a calendar. Classic films like Breakfast at Tiffany's and The Seven Year Itch are revitalized by the young-at-heart seniors of the Contilia Retirement Group in Essen, Germany, proving that age is just a number.
