Revolutionary Himalaya Water Tower

During this year's 2012 Skyscraper competition, hosted by Evolo, the first place award was presented to designers Zhi Zheng, Hongchuan Zhao, and Dongbai Song for their revolutionary water tower concept. Their proposed idea, the Himalaya Water Tower, involves a skyscraper that sits high in the Himalaya Mountain range, surrounded by 40% of the world's fresh water.

Shadows of an Invisible Man

At first, it seems like a normal shadow shot of a man caught in front of direct light. However, after doing a double-take, it is clear that there is no man within the frame to create the projected silhouette. Only the guy's shoes remain behind for the shadow of a full figure to emerge from. This mind-boggling series entitled I'm Not There is the creative work of photographer Pol beda Hervs.

Forest Blending Acrylic Glass Statues

Imagine walking through a forest and seeing just a glimpse of these invisible figures! They're the creative work of artist Rob Mulholland, who makes these sculptures out of mirrored Perspex (or acrylic glass). It has been called the Predator effect after the 1987 film where an alien life form seamlessly blends into its background. Mulholland has previously installed these chameleon-like figures in the woods around Alloa, Loch Ard and the David Marshall Lodge in Scotland.

Motoi Yamamoto’s Incredible Salt Mazes

Japanese artist Motoi Yamamoto creates incredibly intricate mazes made entirely out of salt! Currently showing at the Hakone Open-Air Museum in Kanagawa, Japan is one of his newest works entitled “Forest of Beyond.” The story about why Yamamoto started down this path is a sad and tragic one.
