Scientists Stunned by Bright Orange Shark Discovered off the Coast of Costa Rica

Genetics are incredible. They can turn a manta ray pink and peacock white. And apparently, they can transform a shark into an oversized goldfish. In summer 2024, a unique nurse shark was discovered during a sport fishing trip in Costa Rica. Its orange-golden hue surprised participants and scientists alike. Now, a new study published in Marine Biodiversity is shedding light on what exactly is happening genetically to this unique shark.

This Whimsical Merry-Go-Round Is a Work of Art Gliding With Childlike Wonder

The merry-go-round as we know it was invented some 200 years ago, and since then, these rides have delighted generations of children. Hoping to rekindle the 19th-century charm of the beloved carousel, Nantes-based production company La Machine has built a series of steampunk-looking, whimsical merry-go-rounds known as Les Machines de L’île (The Machines of the Island). Artist Celebrates Pueblo Architecture in Minimalist, Color-Blocked Paintings

There’s plenty to see in New Mexico, whether it be sprawling desert vistas or dramatic mountain ranges. Aside from its stunning national parks, though, the state is also home to one of the world’s most distinct architectural traditions: the Pueblo style, which dates as far back as 1150 C.E. These buildings primarily feature adobe bricks, resulting in red, earthy facades and textures. They also happen to be at the heart of Alvin Gill-Tapia’s creative practice.
