9-Year-Old’s Lemonade Stand Raises Nearly $2,000 for the Idaho Humane Society

It’s the quintessential kid dream to start a lemonade stand in the neighborhood, but not every kid has a charitable goal in mind when imagining their first entrepreneurial venture. For 9-year-old Ben Miller, however, the good he could do with his earnings was the first thing on his mind. For the past three years, the now-third-grader has operated a lemonade stand and donated all of his revenue to the Idaho Humane Society.

We're no stranger to animal-shaped treats. Scientists Have Completed Mapping the Last 8% Of the Human Genome

Humanity is a work in progress, and sequencing the human genome has been too. In 1990, the Human Genome Project began working to decode the fundamental building blocks of humanity: our DNA, collected into 23 chromosomes within what is called a genome. By 2003, the project had sequenced three billion chemical base pairs that make up human DNA. This phenomenally successful project eventually documented 92% of the genome.
