Clever Sculpture Installation “Shines a Light” on Our Obsession with Technology

It's an all too common scene, but this time what we're looking at isn't a real-life experience, but a clever piece of art. As part of the Amsterdam Light Festival, brand design agency Design Bridge created the thought-provoking installation Absorbed by Light.

NYC Subway Station Gets Redesigned with Colorful Dog Mosaics

In the 1970s, artist William Wegman adopted his first Weimaraner. Fittingly named Man Ray, this dog played a pivotal role in the evolution of Wegman's creative practice. Not only did the pup prompt the artist to turn his attention from painting to photography, but he also inspired Wegman's most well-known works: portraits of Weimaraners wearing clothing.

3D Embroidery of Floral Females With Hair and Dresses Flowing Off the Hoop

We’ve seen many experimental embroidery techniques lately, but Dutch fiber artist Ceren (aka Kayra Handmade) takes the popular craft a step further by thinking outside of the conventional embroidery hoop. Favoring female subjects, her ethereal designs feature three dimensional elements, such as flowing hair and fabric, that cascade from the textile canvas. Each piece is made by hand, using cotton threads, delicate fabric, and beads stitched on raw cotton fabric.

Interview: Creative Ceramicist Sculpts 100 Unique Clay Vessels in 100 Days

While you may have heard of daily drawing challenges such as Inktober, British ceramicist Anna Whitehouse took the popular concept a step further by setting her own unique experimental project. Starting from January 1, 2018 she decided to create a decorative clay bottle every day for 100 days. Each white vessel is uniformly shaped and sized, however, Whitehouse explored new ideas by creating a different surface pattern design each time.
