Finnish Children Are Learning How To Spot AI-Generated Content From the Age of Three

With the rise of AI and algorithm-driven bias, fake news is everywhere—and alarmingly—it’s becoming increasingly harder to spot. However, in Finland, the next generation is learning how to decipher what’s real and what isn’t from an early age. Since the 1990s, the innovative nation has built media literacy into its national curriculum, teaching children as young as three how to analyze different types of media and recognize disinformation.

Travel Host Rick Steves Saves Seattle-Area Hygiene Center in Amazing “Gift to My Homeless Neighbors”

The Lynnwood Hygiene Center, in a suburb north of Seattle, was slated to shut its doors on December 12, 2025. That is, until one of its community members stepped in to help. Travel writer and TV host Rick Steves pledged to keep the center open and free for people who need it as a resource for hot showers, food, and clothing in south Snohomish County (where the center is located).

RIP Betty Reid Soskin: Oldest Ranger in the National Park Service Dies at 104

Betty Reid Soskin, the centenarian who made history by becoming the oldest ranger in the National Park Service (NPS), has died at 104. The NPS reported that Soskin passed away at her home in Richmond, California, on December 21, surrounded by her loved ones. Soskin worked at the Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park until her retirement at age 100 in 2022.
