Artists Blend Surreal Portraits and Cubism to Create Uniquely Illustrated Tattoos

Artistic duo Jade Tomlinson and Kev James of Expanded Eye bring a fresh and surreal perspective to their unique tattoo designs. Based in London, the pair dabble in street art, sculptures, and prints, but their distinctive style really shines through in their ink work. Combining elements of abstract with minimal splashes of color and peculiar yet skillful details, their pieces remain branded into both memory and, in the case of their clients, skin.

The two are passionate about creating individual art pieces that are personalized to the concepts and stories that their clients provide. Tomlinson and James allow each contemporary tattoo to “evolve organically” from paper to skin. However, the permanent marks which they ink into each flesh canvas are consistent in both complexity and skill. Similar to how the surrealist movement revolutionized the traditional art scene, Expanded Eye's tattoo work appears impulsive and deeply rooted in imagination, branching out from traditional tattoo patterns to create something refreshing and new.
