British design studio Henry Swanzy Ltd operates under the slogan of “Strength in Simplicity” and their newest piece of furniture fully embodies this motto. The design team has created a clever coffee table, called Bareppa, held together using tension from a bungee cord. The appealing ideas behind this piece of furniture is heavily guided by its minimalistic approach and ease of assembly. In fact, it's designed for owners to easily put it together in just one minute. The three legs are attached at a certain angle, slotted into the table top, and combine with the weight of the glass to achieve stability; the bungee cord merely adds tension to keep the legs in their proper positions.
Based in Falmouth, UK the company produces contemporary furniture that is both elegant and functional. Swanzy, who launched the company in 2013, shows craft skills that have been honed over 20 years in the industry and are apparent in the quality and detail of the furniture. Working predominantly with wood for its strength and versatility, Swanzy has developed a deep respect for the material that “has been integral to our existence for tens of thousands of years.”
