For many, growing up means finding some distance from their parents—both physically and emotionally. This rings particularly true for adult men and their dads. Unfortunately, displays of affection between men are still frowned upon by many, even today. A man named Trey Sawyer chose to defy this cultural expectation during a recent visit to his dad. As they were watching TV together, Sawyer cuddled up to him. Although he caught his dad off guard, the video he got of the moment is truly endearing.
In the clip, Sawyer slowly gets closer to his dad on the couch with an almost mischievous smile on his face. Suddenly, he is leaning against his dad, who doesn’t seem to know what’s going on. Once he catches on, he can’t help but smile and laugh at his grown son’s efforts. Who says you can’t cuddle up to your dad after a certain age?
People who have watched the video have had to make a double take. Despite Sawyer being fully grown, his dad looks very young. In the comments, he revealed his dad is only 43 years old–which explains why they almost look like brothers simply bugging each other.
Although the original video has raked in two million views for the sweet moment it depicts between father and son, it doesn't end there. As a follow-up video shows, Sawyer's dad is still uncomfortable with physical affection. When his kid tries to give him a hug, he delicately pushes him away. Ultimately, Sawyer seems to understand that despite his dad's reluctance, he loves him very much—in his own way.
