Adorable Traveling Hedgehog Explores the Great Outdoors

Meet Biddy, a tiny hedgehog who has big adventures. Biddy, a 3.5-year-old African pygmy hedgehog who lives in Oregon with his owners Toni DeWeese and Tom Unterseher, is a huge social media star with over 380,000 followers on Instagram. Photos of the little critter’s outdoor explorations have become incredibly popular, letting viewers travel in spirit with Biddy as he tours the Pacific Northwest.

His loving owners take him on an adventure at least once a week, photographing Biddy held near waterfalls, crawling over rocks, bundled up on snowy mountains, and overlooking beautiful landscapes. The adorable hedgehog has even been to several notable landmarks and well-known destinations such as Mount Rushmore, Old Faithful, the city of Portland, and Painted Hills.

Biddy’s unexpected fame surprised his owners, who first posted a photo of him on a whim last April. “We thought we’d get, like, 500 followers,” DeWeese told Oregon Live. Faced with a rapidly growing audience, the couple won’t be slowing down their outdoor explorations anytime soon. According to them, “We did go out a lot before, but now we feel like we have to every week because everyone's expecting an adventure.”
