May the 4th Be With You: 20+ Magnificent Artworks That Celebrate Star Wars

May the Fourth Be With You! As most of you already know, today is Star Wars Day, the unofficial day to celebrate all things related to the cinematic saga. According to staticbrain.com, the Star Wars franchise is hugely popular amassing an estimated $27 billion in revenue. Looks like fans around the world are observing the day, and even NASA got into the act, which you can see by their funny tweets.

On a related note, have you seen Vanity Fair's new magazine cover of the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens? The photo was shot by Annie Leibovitz and it blends old characters with new ones. Joining the original cast of Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) will be a slew of new actors like Daisy Ridley (Rey, a ship-parts scavenger), John Boyega (Finn, a possible stormtrooper), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron, an X-wing pilot) and Adam Driver (“Girls”), Gwendoline Christie (“Game of Thrones”), Andy Serkis (“The Hobbit” films), Domhnall Gleeson (“Ex Machina”), Lupita Nyong'o (“12 Years a Slave”) and Max Von Sydow (“The Exorcist”).

Still, one of our favorite shots of the crew is this casual, behind-the-scenes photo of them sitting in a circle for a read-through. As director J.J. Abrams said to Daily Mail, “It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again.” The film will be released on December 18, 2015.
