We've heard the phrase “getting lost in a good book” but never have we seen a sculpture that actually makes you feel it! If you ever get a chance to visit Prague, make sure you drop by the Prague Municipal Library to see an extraordinary sculpture by Matej Kren. The Slovakia-born artist installed a “tower of books” entitled Idiom that uses mirrors to create an illusion that you're looking into an endless vortex of books. We're guessing that it's as close as you'll ever come to feeling like you're falling down a rabbit hole or are traveling through a wormhole.
According to Kren's website,
“His work not only touches on very contemporary problems, such as erasing the boundaries between reality and fiction, memory and the present, but also on classic themes in art – the relation between inner and outer, the part and the whole. Typical of his work is a searching for a complexity of content expressed in a monumental and comprehensible language.”
