Overlaps Reveal Similarities Between Fathers and Sons

UK-based photographer Craig Gibson captures the uncanny physical resemblances between fathers and sons by overlapping portraits of the pairs in his aptly titled series Boys And Their Fathers. The collection of images, which Gibson so kindly referred us to, present a look at the genetic bond that these men and their boys share. He displays each individual's image separately, accompanied by a merged portrait that is especially revealing of their facial likenesses.

While the portraits, side by side, are clearly of two different individuals, there are undeniable similarities that sync up when they are layered atop one another. They appear to have far more physical attributes in common than one would notice by simply looking at them next to each other. Of course, Gibson takes dozens of images of each subject to pair the right angles and positions together, but it is an eye-opening look at hereditary parallels, nonetheless.
