Husband Commissions 23 Artists to Surprise His Wife with Portraits of Their Baby

Chicago-based photographer Ernst Berlin (a.k.a. Reddit user Rezinatoriously) wanted to do something extra special for his wife's first birthday with their baby son, so he turned to RedditGetsDrawn to find different artists to help him put together a spectacularly memorable gift. He commissioned 23 artists to create portraits of his 8-month-old son Jacob, setting a deadline of 2 months and providing 40 photos of Jacob to choose from.

Berlin ended up with an incredibly diverse collection of portraits that are both imaginative and sweet. In different styles and mediums, ranging from realistic digital art to expressive watercolor paintings, the talented artists created a wonderful set of works that capture the love, warmth, and affection of the close-knit family.

On the day of the big reveal, Berlin set up a camera to record the reaction of his wife, Agnes. Upon seeing the portraits of Jacob framed and hung on the wall of their bedroom, Agnes was moved to tears by the thoughtfulness of her husband's gesture and the creativity of the different artists. All we can say is, Berlin really set the bar high for birthday gifts and husbands everywhere!
