Putting a unique and furry spin on family photos, Huntsville, Alabama-based photographer Jamie Clauss shot a series of humorous and adorable images of her wedding photographer friends Jan and Chase Renegar and their dog in the same style as traditional newborn photography. One day, after admiring a photo shoot that Clauss had done with the family of a newborn baby, Jan remarked that she wished that she could have her own shoot. While she didn't have a baby, she and her husband did have Snuggles, a Jack Russell Terrier rescue that they had adopted six years ago. In a flash of genius, they decided to pose with Snuggles just as proud parents would pose with their newborns, resulting in a lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek series as heartwarming as it is humorous.
Clauss, who owns studio Count It Joy Photography, captured images of the couple and their four-legged bundle of joy in all of the typical poses: swaddling Snuggles in a blanket, holding her close like a baby, and even letting her little paws peek out from under a blanket next to her owners' feet. Snuggles, who is a natural in front of the camera with her big, brown eyes and her willingness to pose, had a great time cuddling with her mom and dad. “Snuggles was so comfortable with it,” Clauss told BuzzFeed. “She started falling asleep and snoring…. It was all we could do not to laugh and wake her up.”
The creative photos presents a playful look at the bond that people have with their pets. “We want people to have a good laugh and not take themselves too seriously,” Clauss said to AL.com. “Have fun with life. Enjoy your animals and make them part of your family.”
