What would it be like if you fell asleep one night and, even though you tried with all your might, you just couldn't wake up? London-based photographer Simon Cheung visually shows us this idea in this set of surreal self-portraits.
Cheung took up photography as a creative medium only last year, in April 2012, when he bought his very first DSLR. Inspired by My Modern Met favorites Alex Stoddard and Tim Walker, Cheung embarked on his own photographic journey.
“It was Alex's creative growth that inspired me to explore and develop my potential,” he explains, “whereas Tim Walker really inspires me in terms of delivering intriguing stories and expressing dreamlike themes. His images are usually portrayed as surreal moments but they also look very believable. So I strive to capture my viewers in a similar fashion, by taking them on a journey into my imaginary world.”
