In all four years that we’ve been around, there hasn’t been a more celebrated, appreciated or loved photographer on My Modern Met than Steve McCurry. Our first post about his work, called 22 Incredible Photos of Faraway Places, has been seen and shared by over a million people.

You can spend days looking through his website, getting lost in his blog’s short stories. By assembling his beautiful shots by unique theme, such as Solitude and Silence or Finding the Sublime, and then adding in poignant poems or quotes, he’s able to transport us to a different time and place. The world renowned photojournalist captures life as we know it, making us look beyond ourselves and giving a profound appreciation for the incredible world we live in.

Klimt-Inspired Golden Map of Manhattan Celebrates the Bright Lights of New York at Night

Though designer Rafael Esquer has lived in New York City for 20 years, he’s still in awe of its bright lights and buzzing nightlife. As the founder of Alfalfa Studio, a branding and graphic design house based in Lower Manhattan, he creates pieces inspired by his enlightening experiences in the Big Apple. His latest project, a shimmering map entitled Iconic New York Illuminated, captures the magic of Manhattan after dark.
