From now till April 10, students on the EPLF campus in Lausanne, Switzerland can witness an awesome piece of art. Street artists Leon Keer and Remko van Schaik spent six days creating a 3D artwork of Space Invaders, those video game characters we all grew up with in the late 70s and early 80s. The massive painting, that measures 150 square meters, was made for the campus' Art on Science project. Like all of their anamorphic works, this piece doesn't look much like anything unless you stand at a particular spot.
When we asked Keer what he found most challenging about this particular project, he said, “It was creating the Space Invaders. To get the right geometrical shape of every Invader and in good proportion with the other Invaders took a lot of calculations and a good amount of concentration.
“The painting was made on a science campus. All of the students were stunned about the anamorphic effect and were trying to figure out the technique by walking around the painting.
“It took some time to convince the viewers that they could actually stand on the painting and interact with it.”
