7-Ton Salt Sculpture Transforms the Halls of a Japanese Nursery School

Japanese artist Motoi Yamamoto is well-known for his awe-inspiring works of art in which he uses salt to sculpt labyrinthine patterns. Drawn to the crystalline substance for its beautiful, translucent qualities, he returns to the mineral, again and again, to build his ephemeral installations that are both monumental yet also quite unstable due to the fragility of the medium.

Beautiful Painted Staircases Inspired by Andean Textiles Transform the Hills of Lima, Peru

In the rolling hills of Lima, Peru, colorful murals coat the sloping staircases that forge paths through the cityโ€™s diverse neighborhoods. An effort to beautify and celebrate the cultural history of each district, the painted stairs form part of the cityโ€™s endeavor to recognize art as an essential part of community development.

Public Art Installation Honors George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and John Lewis in NYCโ€™s Union Square

On October 1, three new statues went up in New York Cityโ€™s Union Square. The three busts, each crafted from 200 layers of thinly-sliced African Mahogany wood and coated in shimmering bronze, bear the likenesses of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and John Lewis. Part of a public art installation called SEEINJUSTICE, the 10-foot-tall statues were crafted by artist Chris Carnabuci in collaboration with Confront Art and its charity partner We Are Floyd Inc.
