Emma Taggart is a Staff Writer and Video Editor at My Modern Met. She earned a BA in Fashion and Textile Design at the University of Ulster in Belfast. Originally from Northern Ireland, she lived in Berlin for many years, where she fostered a career in the arts, dabbling in everything from illustration and animation to music and ceramics. She now calls Edinburgh home, where she continues to work as a writer, illustrator, and ceramicist. Her ceramics, often combined with hand-painted animation frames, capture playful scenes that celebrate freedom and movement, and blend her passion for art with storytelling. Artist Draws Millions of Tiny Dots to Calmly Ease Her Anxiety and the Results Are Amazing

Swedish illustrator Josefine Svärd creates fantastical stippling art that captures the beauty of nature. Celestial skies, trees, mountains, and wild animals are composed of millions of tiny hand-drawn dots, bringing them to life in intricate detail. Many of the artist’s scenes are framed within hand-drawn geometric frames, but often feature elements such as rivers and trees that seem to spill out and grow from the confines of their entrapping lines.

Interview: Ceramicist Hand-Sculpts 100 Elephants in 24-Hour Livestream

It is estimated that around 100 African elephants are killed every day due to an insatiable demand for ivory. This shocking statistic is what spurred British ceramicist Charlotte Mary Pack to action, causing her to undertake an admirable, self-assigned challenge. On World Wildlife Conservation Day (December 4, 2018), Pack stayed awake for an entire 24 hours to handcraft 100 elephant porcelain figurines.
