Emma Taggart is a Staff Writer and Video Editor at My Modern Met. She earned a BA in Fashion and Textile Design at the University of Ulster in Belfast. Originally from Northern Ireland, she lived in Berlin for many years, where she fostered a career in the arts, dabbling in everything from illustration and animation to music and ceramics. She now calls Edinburgh home, where she continues to work as a writer, illustrator, and ceramicist. Her ceramics, often combined with hand-painted animation frames, capture playful scenes that celebrate freedom and movement, and blend her passion for art with storytelling. Doll Photographer Reimagines Barbie and Ken as Soviet Civilians Living in the USSR

Barbie usually enjoys a luxurious life in her Malibu Dreamhouse, but a recent photoshoot by Russian “doll photographer” Lara Vychuzhanina sees the iconic toy living in an entirely different way of life. The artist crafted a true-to-life diorama of a Soviet-era apartment kitchen, revealing what Barbie would look like if she lived in the former USSR circa 1986.

This Website Lets You to Scroll to the Bottom of the Ocean and Discover Deep Sea Animal Life

There are 409,543 named species in the ocean, but the deep sea is home to a vast amount of mysterious creatures that are yet to be discovered. Inspired by marine life, Computer scientist Neal Agarwal has developed a fun website (titled The Deep Sea) that allows users to scroll down to discover the different animals and plant life that live at varying depths of the ocean.

Meet Jill, the 7-year-old squirrel who was rescued from Hurricane Isaac back in 2012. During the Louisiana typhoon, she fell out of her nest, so her new owners took her in. Seven years on and the adorable furry rodent is now a permanent member of the family—she even has her own Instagram account!
