Jessica Stewart is a Staff Editor and Digital Media Specialist for My Modern Met, as well as a curator and art historian. Since 2020, she is also one of the co-hosts of the My Modern Met Top Artist Podcast. She earned her MA in Renaissance Studies from University College London and now lives in Rome, Italy. She cultivated expertise in street art which led to the purchase of her photographic archive by the Treccani Italian Encyclopedia in 2014. When she’s not spending time with her three dogs, she also manages the studio of a successful street artist. In 2013, she authored the book "Street Art Stories Roma" and most recently contributed to "Crossroads: A Glimpse Into the Life of Alice Pasquini." Incredible Winning Photos From the 2021 Bird Photographer of the Year Contest

Over 22,000 images from photographers around the world flooded into the sixth annual Bird Photographer of the Year contest. It was Mexican photographer Alejandro Prieto who took home the top prize for his haunting photo of a Greater Roadrunner staring down the immense border wall between the United States and Mexico. Wrapped in barbed wire, the wall looms large over the perplexed animal. Prieto won a £5,000 ($6,900)

Airbnb Is Offering Temporary Housing to 20,000 Afghan Refugees

As a huge stream of people flees Afghanistan after the country's takeover by the Taliban, questions are opening up about where these refugees will go. After leaving behind their homes, they will be looking for shelter and one company has announced that it's stepping up to assist them. Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky tweeted that the company will be hosting 20,000 Afghan refugees globally starting immediately.

Photos Reveal the Abstract Beauty of Lava From the Fagradalsfjall Volcano

German photographer Jan Erik Waider is known for his interesting approach to landscape photography. Preferring to draw out abstract shapes in nature, he often travels to Iceland to produce unique takes on the oft-photographed environment. So, it was only natural that he make a trip when the Fagradalsfjall volcano began erupting in March 2021. While there, he produced his LAVA series, which gives a close-up look at both magma and cooled lava.
