Jessica Stewart is a Staff Editor and Digital Media Specialist for My Modern Met, as well as a curator and art historian. Since 2020, she is also one of the co-hosts of the My Modern Met Top Artist Podcast. She earned her MA in Renaissance Studies from University College London and now lives in Rome, Italy. She cultivated expertise in street art which led to the purchase of her photographic archive by the Treccani Italian Encyclopedia in 2014. When she’s not spending time with her three dogs, she also manages the studio of a successful street artist. In 2013, she authored the book "Street Art Stories Roma" and most recently contributed to "Crossroads: A Glimpse Into the Life of Alice Pasquini." Artist Repurposes Persian Carpets as a Canvas for Evocative Portraits of Women

French artist Mateo Humano uses a unique canvas for his haunting portraits of women. Inspired by the traditions of ancient cultures and influenced by his background as a street artist, Humano places his evocative portraits on Persian carpets. In doing so, he allows the traditional patterns to become part of the features of the women. The effect is incredible.

Incredible Sky Map Details Over 900,000 Stars, Galaxies, and Black Holes

A consortium of German astronomers has released a detailed sky map that includes over 710,000 supermassive black holes in distant galaxies, 180,000 X-ray emitting stars in our own Milky Way, and 12,000 clusters of galaxies. All of the data was collected via the eRosita X-ray telescope in just six months, which shows the power of this type of telescope. The eROSITA telescope was launched on the Spektrum-RG satellite in July 2019.

Enormous Lakeside Arts Center in China Mimics the Shapes of Waves in Its Design

Inspired by the shape of a cresting wave, the design for the Nanhai Art Center has been revealed by MAD Architects. The enormous complex includes a spacious theater, museum, and sports complex to give the citizens of Guangzhou and Foshan a new epicenter of community and culture.  Interestingly, MAD founding partner Ma Yansong has close ties with the area, having once participated in the city's largest land art festival.

Amazing Winners of the 2023 Drone Photo Awards Give a Fresh Perspective on the World

The winners of the 2023 Drone Photo Awards give fresh perspectives on the world around us. The international aerial photo competition was won by Israeli photographer Or Adar. His Photo of the Year depicts a protest against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plans to overhaul the court system. The strategically placed protest banners and swarms of people make for a mesmerizing composition that captured the judges' imaginations.
