Pinar Noorata is the Managing Editor at My Modern Met. She is a writer, editor, and content creator based in Brooklyn, NY. She earned her BA in Film and Media Studies from CUNY Hunter College and is an alumni of the Center for Arts Education’s Career Development Program in NYC. She has worked at major TV, film, and publishing companies as well as other independent media businesses. When she isn’t writing, editing, or creating videos herself, Pinar enjoys watching movies, reading, crafting, drawing, and volunteering at her local animal shelter.

Funny Illustrations Reveal Delightfully Quirky Names for Different Groups of Animals

Illustrator and designer Mal Jones found the perfect project to keep himself creative for over a year, while also promoting the “illustration chops” of Rocketkoi—a full-service design company he co-founded with his wife Sarah Meskin. The artist embarked on a playful series about animals and the unique words used to describe their collective groups. The project is creatively referred to as Nomencreatures—a portmanteau of the terms nomenclature and creatures.

RIP Bill Cunningham: Remembering the Brilliant Street Photographer

We're extremely saddened by the loss of yet another legend in our lifetime. Over the weekend, the photography and fashion community lost a true pioneer and documentarian: Bill Cunningham. The photographer first earned a name for himself in New York City as a brilliant street photographer. He began contributing to The New York Times in the 1970s, serving as a resident street style specialist.

Designer Creatively Pairs Food with Their Pantone Swatch Colors

Designer Lucy Litman celebrates the beautiful colors found in the world by matching food items with their Pantone swatches. For months now, the creative has been pairing savory and sweet treats with their solid-colored counterparts in an ongoing series. Using the hashtag #pantoneposts, Litman began the visual project with cereal–Fruit Loops, in particular. It served as a meditative process for clearing her mind after stressful work days.
