Watercolorist Creates Vintage-Style Prints of Botanicals and Tiny Specimen Collections

British artist Amy Rose Geden adds her own twist to the romantic aesthetic of botanical prints. In each of her pieces, Geden arranges several watercolor illustrations, which include varieties of flora and fauna, as well as unique found objects such as keys and candlesticks. While some paintings may only contain pleasing arrays of flowers, others have juxtaposing motifs, like binoculars, insects, and eggs.

While some people with a below-average height would call their tiny size a disadvantage, artist Brisa (of online comic Three Under The Rain) illustrates the many perks of being short. Standing proud at 152 cm (just under 5 feet), Brisa shows that sometimes the best things come in small packages. Brisa’s ongoing comic series gives a glimpse into her life with “the man of her life,” Joan, and their dog, Marly.

Interview: Artist Spends 5 Years Drawing Giant Colored Pencil Map of North America

Artist and cartographer Anton Thomas is making waves for his enormous, hand-drawn map of North America. Executed in pen and colored pencil over the course of nearly 5 years, he spent almost 4,000 hours creating this incredibly detailed view of the continent. It's an ambitious project that required Thomas' dedication and a lot of sacrifice; but in the end, he was rewarded both personally and professionally for his trouble.
