Mesmerizing Kaleidoscopic Glass Installations by Olafur Eliasson

Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson may be best known for his expansive installations that encompass entire rooms, but his smaller-scale works are just as compelling. The artist, who is based in Copenhagen and Berlin, often uses mirrors, tinted glass, stainless steel frames, and lightbulbs to create spectacular kaleidoscopic works that transform spaces into illuminated, multicolored realms of beauty.

Powerful Laser Rainbow Beams Onto Toronto’s CN Tower

During the past few nights, residents of Toronto have been mesmerized by a powerful laser rainbow beaming across the night sky.  The high specification laser light projection starts in Chinatown and lands squarely onto Toronto's iconic CN Tower, the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere.  According to New York and Berlin-based artist Yvette Mattern, the laser rainbow is a powerful and luminescent symbol of peace and hope that embraces geographical and social diversity.

Olafur Eliasson Transforms a Museum Space into a Natural Rugged Terrain

In his first solo exhibition Riverbed, Olafur Eliasson assembled a landscape of stone and soil that conceals the normally tiled floor of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark, to emulate a natural rugged terrain.  Viewers are given the opportunity to become immersed in the authenticity of the art installation, and thoughtfully ponder the contrasting dissimilarities of the exhibit and the outside world.

Surreal Photos of 99 Animals Gathered Around the Ultimate Watering Hole

Last March, we told you about Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang's latest installation, 99 life-sized wild animals gathered around the ultimate watering hole. Now showing at the Queensland's Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) until May 11, you can witness this stunning installation yourself. Called Heritage 2013 it shows both predator and prey all drinking from the same blue lake surrounded by pristine white sand, which was inspired by the lakes of Moreton Bay's islands.
