Couple Builds Miniature Mid-Century Modern House Inspired by Their Childhood Homes

From baking to drawing, many of us have had more time to spend on our hobbies during lockdown. Married couple Annie Kampfe and Cliff Donnelly from Leewood, Kansas have been particularly busy though. They’ve been building their own Mini Modern House, a multi-story dollhouse based on the style of their childhood homes. The couple has had experience in interior design and remodeling work, but they’ve never made anything at this scale.

While photos and videos of modern-day U.S. Presidents are constantly featured on our newsfeeds, Presidents of the past are remembered with just a few black and white photos or portrait paintings. Curious about how Presidents from history would look if they were alive today, Award-winning comic book writer Magdalene Visaggio created a manipulated photo series called Modern Presidents. Visaggio used smartphone apps to create modern-day interpretations of each President.

Chinese Artist Covers Paper Torsos in Ancient Paintings to Challenge Traditional Femininity

Contemporary Chinese artist Peng Wei puts a spin on tradition with her paper sculptures of female torsos. The figures, composed of layered flax and cotton, are painted with images from ancient Chinese narratives including Paragons of Feminine Virtue by Ming-dynasty thinker Lv Kun and Strange Tales from the Chinese Studio by Qing-dynasty novelist Pu Songling.
