Half-Faced Character Illustration Mashups Inspired by Disney and Hayao Miyazaki

Artist Amanda Lee (aka Dada) uses the potential hidden within ordinary colored pencils to design impeccably detailed character illustrations. “Art can communicate without words,” the gifted artist proclaims. “It is a platform where I filter my emotions; it gives me passion to create.” Since she readily describes herself as a Disney and Hayao Miyazaki fan, the artist has embarked on a series of mashups that include characters from these two animation powerhouses.

Woman's Clever Tattoo is a Friendly Reminder She's Deaf in One Ear

For some folks, tattoos are purely decorative, but for others, they're a helpful way to tell the world who they are. Imgur user raingoose recently got a tattoo for this exact purpose, because she's deaf in one ear. To let others know, she had a simple-yet-clever design placed behind her non-hearing ear–it's a tiny speaker with an “x” next to it.

300-Foot Tunnel Excavation Explores Creation and Destruction at the Hands of Humans

Aiming to examine the interactions that occur between man and architecture, artist Daniel Arsham has created a giant, 300-foot excavated tunnel. Located in the SCAD Museum of Art, the considerable carving serves as the centrepiece for Arsham's The Future Was Then exhibition. The event aims to draw attention to the capacity humans have had for both creation and destruction over the course of history, by examining our ability to make use of man-made and natural materials.

Ai Weiwei Wraps 14,000 Refugee Life Jackets Around Berlin Landmark

A new installation by the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei makes use of thousands of life vests collected from Syrian refugees entering Europe via the Greek island of Lesbos. Unveiled on February 14, 2016, the display features over 14,000 orange vests wrapped around the pillars of Berlin's Konzerthaus, and a lifeboat dangling in the centre of the columns that reads “#safepassage.
