Artist Leandro Erlich, the creator of Swimming Pool (2016), has finally taken a selfie with his iconic work. It’s the 10th anniversary of the underwater installation, originally designed by Erlich exclusively for Museum Voorlinden, a contemporary art museum in Wassenaar, near The Hague. Since its inception, Swimming Pool has drawn viewers in with an immersive, mind-bending experience.

He’s just been named one of the 2026 MacArthur Fellows, and has been awarded the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation’s prestigious “Genius Grant” of $800,000. The grant is awarded to nominated artists in the U.S. who show “extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits and a marked capacity for self-direction.
