Street artists Vhils and Bordalo II are known for their unique techniques, which either subtract or add to a wall to bring an image to life. While Vhils uses chisels and drills to etch his images into a wall, Bordalo II uses reclaimed materials to build a sculptural form onto the wall's surface. Recently, in Lisbon, they came together and merged their styles for a fascinating collaboration.

Artist Transforms Discarded Horseshoes Into Dynamic Animal Sculptures

Sculptor Jamie Thomas certainly lives by the creed that “one man's trash is another man's treasure.” The New Zealand artist creates striking animal sculptures from steel, often working with reclaimed materials. He's particularly fond of using discarded horseshoes, which he shapes and polishes into everything from horses to dolphins. Recently, he's acquired over 6 metric tons of horseshoes thanks to a farmer who has been collecting them for over 20 years.

100-Year-Old House in Japanese Village Looks Like It’s Blowing a Bubble

Have you ever seen a house blow a bubble? Deep in the Japanese countryside, visitors to Murono Village discover an ancient wooden house blowing a luminous bubble. Ephemeral Bubble, the brainchild of MAD Architects’ Ma Yansong, was created for the 2024 Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale (ETAT), one of the world’s largest international outdoor art festivals. The semi-transparent installation extends from the 100-year-old China House Huayuan, a local hub of Chinese art and cultural exchange.
