This Rare Vintage Typewriter from the 1950s Lets You Type Sheet Music

While most composers like to handwrite their sheet music, over the years there have been all types of machines invented to help print music. Perhaps one of the coolest is the Keaton Music Typewriter. First patented in 1936, it definitely doesn't look like an ordinary typewriter. Robert H. Keaton from San Francisco, California created the machine, which has now become something of a rare collector's item.

Artist Sculpts One-Of-A-Kind Electric Guitar Body from 1,200 Colored Pencils

You could draw with colored pencils, but these tiny tools can do more than that—they can also be art themselves! From hand-carved sculptures to brilliantly patterned jewelry, we’ve seen many talented makers transform the art box staple into incredible creations. Inspired by this unusual art form, an artist known as Flyjumper on Reddit (or Burls Art on YouTube) recently built his own custom electric guitar, using 1,200 colored pencils for the body.

Animated Light Projections of Tiny People Seem to Play the Piano with Every Step

In classical music, the word “adante”—which means “walking” in Italian—describes a moderately slow tempo, like an average walking pace. MIT's Tangible Media Group has created a clever visual interpretation of the term, presented in a short film by the same name. In Adante, tiny digitized figures are projected just above an automated piano's keyboard, seeming to scale the keys—literally. Each animated step, skip, and stride sounds a new note.
